About CDPR
The Centre for Democracy and Peace Research (CDPR) is a registered charity (Charity no. 1175884) in England and Wales. The centre aims to promote the advancement of human rights.
Since 2018, it has been co-running an emergency financial support programme for academics in Turkey.
Based on the needs that were identified throughout its work, CDPR is in the process of starting a new program in Turkey. The aim of this new program is to enhance the resilience of newly founded organizations working in the human rights field for supporting the production of critical knowledge outside of universities. The program has two main objectives: (i) Capacity building for organizations and initiatives involved in the production of critical knowledge outside the higher education system in Turkey; and (ii) Enhancing the skill sets of the activists and volunteers involved.
CDPR is looking for a full-time Project Coordinator and a full-time Project Assistant in Turkey, who will be working with a Programme Coordinator residing in the UK to run this program.
PROJECT COORDINATOR (REF: CDPR – PC)
Job title: Project Coordinator
Type of contract: Fixed Term – 12 months

Start of the program: Mid-March 2019
Job Description
The 12-month program will start in mid-March 2019 and will achieve its objectives by:
- Identifying learning outcomes for the program,
- Implementing field visits,
- Harmonizing the program with the other similar programs involved in the field,
- Developing key relationships between the program and the civil society field in general,
- Linking key partners within organizations to other forms of opportunities in civil society,
- Designing and implementing a self-monitoring process for organizations,
- Designing and implementing an evaluation process of the program, workshops and training,
- Developing a relationship with the key contact people of the partner organizations,
- Developing and implementing a process of accounting,
- Arranging payments,
- Linking partner organizations and people with each other,
- Coordinating the support opportunities available for organizations,
- Providing support to the next cycle of the program (project development),
- Reporting,
Person Specification
- At least 3 years of demonstrable experience of project management in civil society,
- Experience of writing project proposals and reports,
- Proven track on organizational development work,
- Strong interest in human rights and social justice issues,
- Very good knowledge and understanding of the human rights issues in Turkey and the situation of academics at risk
- Commitment to CDPR’s goals and mission,
- Strong communication skills,
- Excellent teamwork skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and in Turkish are required and while not essential, knowledge of Kurdish is an advantage.
- IT skills in office programs,
- Sensitive to multicultural issues and strong interpersonal skills,
- Excellent time management and problem-solving skills,
- Able to work under pressure, meet deadlines and work on own initiative
- Must be able to travel in Turkey
- Report to the Programme Coordinator in the UK
We expect the candidate to;
- Coordinate the program
- Establish and maintain relationships with key partners
- Provide support to partner organizations in the program for self -identifying and prioritizing organizational needs, organize learning environments for skill and alliance building, networking and exchanging good practices,
- Design tailor-made processes of capacity building for organizational development,
- Be responsible for the reporting aspects of the program.

- Support the Project Coordinator
- A keen interest in project management support in civil society,
- Excellent administrative and logistics skills,
- Strong interest in human rights and social justice issues,
- Good knowledge and understanding of the human rights issues in Turkey and the situation of academics at risk,
- Commitment to CDPR’s goals and mission,
- Strong communication skills,
- Excellent teamwork skills,
- Written and oral communication skills in English and in Turkish are required and while not essential, knowledge of Kurdish is an advantage.

- Provide support to the Coordinator especially for logistical and financial arrangements when (s)he is running the program
- Support the relationships established with key partners in the field
- Implement back office related tasks including but not limited to archiving, etc.
