Internship Opportunities at Ashoka Turkey
We are looking for interns to work on a range of exciting programs at the cutting edge of social change. You will be joining a dynamic team in our office in Sishane, Istanbul.
Ashoka is the largest network of social entrepreneurs worldwide, with nearly 3,500 Ashoka Fellows in 90 countries putting their system changing ideas into practice on a global scale and a platform for people from all sectors dedicated to changing the world.

About the Role
We are looking for entrepreneurial, bright and dedicated individuals with a passion for social entrepreneurship and innovation to join our team for a minimum of 2 days for at least 3 months. This is a great opportunity to experience working in the not-for-profit or social entrepreneurship sectors and successful candidates would be considered for further responsibilities. Interns will be provided a modest compensation, public transportation and lunch costs.
The role will vary according to your skills and interests but currently there are two areas that we need support with:
- Social Entrepreneurship Program – The search, selection and support of Turkey’s leading social entrepreneurs, with an opportunity to attend cutting edge events and meet opinion leaders in person,
Scope of Work
- Supporting with the search process for Turkey’s top social entrepreneurs through desk research, interviews, site visits and reference checks,
- Helping to plan an exciting ecosystem day which will bring together +100 social entrepreneurs from all over Turkey around latest trends and tools,
- Helping plan and attending the Ashoka Fellow Summer 2018 capacity building retreat,
- Supporting Ashoka and Fellows with research,
- Day to day admin associated with the program.
- Changemaker Skills Program – Production of first of its kind audiovisual content, communication campaign and events to ensure children in Turkey grow up mastering changemaker skills that will enable them to contribute to positive social change.
(Ashoka identifies Changemaker Skills as empathy, creativity, team work, new leadership and critical thinking. Social emotional skills / 21st century skills are other terms used to describe similar skill sets)
Scope of Work
- Supporting written and audiovisual content production (toolkits, videos, an offline course) on Changemaker Skills targeting teachers and parents,
- Researching innovative & good practices from the local and international fields,
- Connecting and liaising with stakeholders from our national and international education community.
- Supporting managing www.farkyaratansiniflar.org and related social networking activities (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Medium Blog)
- Helping organize an exciting Changemaker Education Summit bringing together change agents in education,
- Day to day admin associated with the program.
Required Skills and Experience
- Passion in social entrepreneurship / changemaking / changemaker skills / innovation in education fields;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication and time management skills;
- Demonstrated track record in producing high quality research and written materials;
- Ability to work productively, proactively and independently, on own initiative;
- Fluency in Turkish and English;
- Voluntary or professional social sector experience is beneficial.
- For the Changemaker Skills role, an academic background in education or a related field is beneficial.
